A Spokane vet accepting new patients

Dr. Whitcomb is taking new patients for dogs and cats. Here is how a first visit at Glenrose works, what to bring, and what to expect when it comes to cost.

Taking new patients

Dr. Hannah Whitcomb, DVM

Dr. Lindqvist and Dr. Marsh are mostly booked a week or so out. Dr. Whitcomb has room, and she is the doctor Karen would want a new client to see first. She has a special interest in new puppies and kittens, preventive care, and cats who hate the vet.

How a first visit works

  1. 1

    Send a request, or call.

Use the appointment request link any time, or call (509) 555-0142 during open hours. The front desk calls you back to find a time.

  2. 2

    Bring what you have.

Vaccine records, the name of your last clinic, any medications your pet takes, and your list of questions. Write the questions down. We mean it.

  3. 3

    Meet the doctor. Ask everything.

Dr. Whitcomb is taking new patients. You leave with a plan, and a written estimate for anything beyond the exam.

What to bring to a first visit

  • Vaccine records, or the name of your last clinic so we can ask for them
  • A list of any medications, supplements or special food your pet takes
  • Your questions, written down. We mean it.
  • Cats in a carrier, with a towel that smells like home
  • Dogs on a leash

What a first visit costs

We don't publish a price list, because a checkup for a healthy two-year-old and a checkup that turns up a heart murmur are not the same visit.

Before we do anything beyond the exam, you get a written estimate. If the number is hard, we split it into what has to happen today and what can wait. Ask. A good vet will tell you without making you feel cheap.

New client questions

Do I need my pet's records before the first visit?

They help, but they are not required to book. Bring vaccine records if you have them, or give the front desk the name of your last clinic and we will ask for them, so nothing gets repeated early.

Can I request an appointment online?

Yes. Use the appointment request link any time of day and the front desk will call you back to find a time. During open hours you can also call (509) 555-0142.

Which doctor will we see?

New clients usually start with Dr. Whitcomb, who is taking new patients. If you would rather see Dr. Lindqvist or Dr. Marsh, say so when you book; their schedules run about a week out.

Do you see exotic pets?

No. We see dogs and cats only. If you call about a rabbit, bird or reptile, the front desk will give you the name of a practice that does.
